Michael Cheney has been hosting free shows over at http://www.michaelcheney.tv recently as one of his new marketing tactics where he gives away loads of free content and allows us to ask questions via a chat window. This has been very beneficial and enjoyable and he’ll be holding more in the future so go bookmark the link.

Be sure to look out for his countdown timer!!

I have been involved with 5 of his shows over the last couple of weeks and I got the opportunity to take part in one of his Private behind closed door shows with 24 others.

About 25 of us sat on a private online TV show (http://www.michaelcheney.tv) about Web 2.0 and I took some notes which I’m going to reveal here on my Blog.

What is Web 2.0 ?

Web 2.0 is a way of building up relationships with other people on the internet and networking with them. You have the ability to show case your life or specific interests. If you have some great content and host it on a Web 2.0 platform then you are putting your stuff out there.

Other people out there will similar interests will find you out there in Cyberspace and link to you building up viral linking.

Basically someone will see your content and bookmark you and others will follow and see you on other people’s profiles as already bookmarking you. This in turn will build up a massive network of people linking to and from you. Can go extremely viral.

There are a lot of Web 2.0 sites out there. Sites such as MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, Blogger, YouTube, etc.

Before these Web 2.0 platforms the internet just gave information across to the user and wasn’t really that interactive and socialable but now second time around the end user can choose what they want to display on these platforms making it all so interactive and socialable. There are loads and loads of these sites around nowadays and communities of people connecting to them all.

A lot of relationships are built up using these Web 2.0 platforms.

Benefits of Web 2.0

  • You can build a great amount of links linking to your sites
  • The ability to get indexed within the Search Engines extremely fast
  • Ability to meet and greet people in simialar situations as your self with similar interests
  • Build up a massive list of contacts to market to off the Web 2.0 Platform via Squeeze Page
  • Ability to affiliate market or market your own products easily on your profiles
  • Search engines love the new updated content that these web 2.0 sites deliver
  • Web 2.0 is a great way of getting your brand out there and to network with oher Internet Marketers

How to Become a Web 2.0 Wonder in 24 Hours

-Twitter.com

Twitter is a Web 2.0 site used to tell the world what you are doing at that moment in time. Can be overused and used in a silly manor as you’ll probably find out if you visit the site.

To get the most out of Twitter as a Marketer you need to go and find people on Twitter who are in the same Niche as you and have similar interests and follow them. You need to find all the big guys on their profile will show you to all their Twitters.

When you select to follow someone the person you are following will get an email alerting them you want to be added. They will then follow you also.

You’ll need to have built up your profile and twitters before you go adding people as you will be checked upon before people will add you.

-FaceBook

This is another site where you should go out and find all the big guys within your niche. You need to add these guys to your Facebooks and in turn people will add you to their facebooks.

FaceBook is very similar to MySpace and you can build up your profile of your interests and then build up contacts and friends etc. It is pretty much endless what you can do to your profiles.

-Add friends
-Post Notes (applications/notes)
-Leave messages

A lot of people just use these sites for fun but from a Marketers point of view you can Market to your friends lists.

Be careful not to post spam and crap as you’ll soon get noticed as a spammer. Do it carefully and get your face and name out there. Take interest and build up your profiles.

-MySpace

Another great place to network and find people in your niche. Very similar to Facebook. Go and find the big names and add them. They’ll add you back if they like the look of your profile so don’t make it look like a massive pitch fest.

Be sure to build your profiles up first before you go adding friends so they’ll have something to look at. Keep it real and believable.

Don’t look like you’ve just built your page so you can add people fast.

You need to go out and post on peoples MySpace. Find friends and accept friends. Get your name out there again.

A great tool recommended by Michael for MySpace is FriendBlasterPro that can automate friend adding. Don’t be over doing it though because you can get shut down for spamming. Apparently you can add 100 friends a day without getting into trouble.

Imagine what you could do Marketing to them and how big of a list you could have by adding 100 a day..!! Make you think hey.

Top Secrets revealed about Michael Cheney’s experience -

The great case study - A few weeks after setting up his MySpace he received a message from Marlon Sanders inviting him to JV. Without MySpace Marlon would not of been able to contact him as easily

Case study 2/Good Project that went Sour -Michael needed to get traffic really fast and tried a little black hat technique. Created new profile to get instant traffic. Used a rude photograph to target a specific demographic and used FriendBlasterPro to add loads of friends. The account was shut down and he learnt his lesson. He managed to build up a huge list using this automated software.

Think the problem was that they didn’t build the profile up enough to look realistic.

This just shows the possibilities of using MySpace correctly over time.

If you have a really tight niche it is possible to go and find specific people etc,

e.g. 27 year old Males living in the North of England. (There is a search function available)

Imagine the possibilities with this and your niche.

From what I’ve read and from my opinion on Web 2.0 this is going to be the future of the Internet. Groups of Communities all over the internet networking with each other and having fun. The Internet Marketers that harness this power now will stand good stead for the future of Internet Marketing.

Something I once heard somewhere.. “For loads of traffic you’ll have to go stand in front of it”(This is what these web 2.0 sites have - Plenty of Traffic)

This was a great call and got me thinking of plenty of ideas using Web 2.0 Platforms. If you haven’t looked into them yet it might be a good idea to go and have a look and see what you think to it all.
