It’s So Important To Have A Mentor In Marketing

mentor When you decide to take the Internet Marketing world by storm you have no idea where to start. The beginning is often scary. You do a search online for ‘how to make money online’ and you come across all the many different ways to do it.

It can be all too difficult to  find the good through all the bad out there!

You’ll probably come across ebook after ebook promising you the world – You believe all the promises that you’ll able to quit your day job in no time.

As a new Internet Marketer you’ll often fall into the trap of buying ebook after ebook all promising you the same thing over and over.

Before you know it you run into more problems. You are told that you need to build web sites so you need to buy another ebook to learn that. After that ebook you go back to the first ebook which now tells you about a blog you need to build. After another ebook and another week of not getting very far you are almost ready to give up.

So far you are spending loads of money and not really making any money back.

You just aren’t sure where you are going wrong. You are trying to follow the ebooks.  You are hitting a wall and not really sure why. What is happening? You are pulling your hair out and still not making any money online.

You eventually run across a product offering mentoring. Well that sounds cool. A professional will hold you buy the hand and show you the way.

At this point you realise that maybe you should have started with mentoring instead of all the ebooks.Probably a good idea! Oh well at least you’ve found mentoring sooner than later. Hopefully before the next credit card bill comes!

Now after all the information over load from all them ebooks telling you to do this and that all you really needed was someone that has been there and is now willing to teach you the way.

No one can digest everything in one ebook. That’s where mentoring is different.  Not only will you see the steps to take, but you will see which ones work in step with each other. Consecutive moves made at the same time will be something most ebooks won’t teach you. Along with other things that might combine two or three things from different ebooks that you have.

After all this mind blowing information you will realise a coach is the best way to go. I wish I had found a good mentor at the beginning instead of trying to teach myself.

If you want to build a good solid online business instead of jumping from one hyphy method to another you really need to choose a good mentor. They will hold your hand and guide you on the journey. If you go wrong they can put you back on track. They will also motivate you so you don’t get lazy and give up.

Now don’t fall into the trap of buying everything that comes your way. Save your money and find a good mentor.

Ross,
No truer words have been spoken. Get a good mentor…that’s bottom line. I’ve been fooling around reading in the IM field for about two years before I finally hooked up with John Thornhill. A good teacher is priceless in any field…this one included.
Thanks for the reminder!

Hi Ross,

Invaluable advice as always, Ross. I can hardly believe how far I have come in such a short time on JT’s masterclass. And thanks for all your extra help and support through the forum.

Enjoy the journey.

Oh, how I was lost without a mentor, Ross! Great advise all the way around. I am not familiar with Lee McIntyre, but I am a firm believer in John Thornhill’s techniques and teachings. The other mentor I believe in is Jim Cockrum. For now, the masterclass keeps my toes pointed in the right direction :-)

Hi Ross,

Fantastic post and one I can wholly endorse. I spent WAAAY too long NOT following a mentor because the price tag was too significant and I thought I could do it myself…. all I needed was to find the right ebooks…! WRONG!

But it is hard to find the right mentor. What works for one, does NOT work for another. You need to find someone who is “like you”. By that I mean has the same, or similar attitudes and does the same or similar things. There’s NO POINT following someone who is in it to make money , if you want to be a “NAME”, and if they are a NAME, or NAME-wannabe, and you’re not, find someone else. Thier method will NEVER suit YOU.

Brilliant post.

Cheers Susan

Hi Ross,

I always enjoy to read your posts, and yes, I agree … to have a great mentor is invaluable! Where would be without them? How many countless $$ have I spent on useless information I cannot even say anymore. So, thank you for the reminder.
